Radioland Murders

Just finished watching Radioland Murders, a classic from 1994 featuring Brian Benden and Mary Stuart Masterson.  It’s an homage to screwball comedy films from the 1930’s like It Happened One Night and Bringing up Baby (so if you don’t like those films, you probably won’t like this).  I don’t know why it got panned so badly, I think it’s great for what it is.  It’s available on Netflix and if you want to spend an enjoyable few hours you should look it up (please don’t expect any intellectual exercise – “Screwball” comedy obviously isn’t elevated material).   The banter put me in mind of The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, or even Manhattan Murder Mystery, both Woody Allen’s I’m going to have to look up again.   It’s nothing but fun and for film buffs a tidbit- it was co-written and produced by George Lucas.
